Rano Presents Appreciation to 75-Time Blood Donors

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno symbolically presented awards and appreciation in the form of two grams of precious metal to 200 donors who had donated blood 75 times.

Not everyone in this life is given the opportunity

The annual routine activity of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta was held at the Tavia Heritage Hotel Ballroom, Jalan Letjend Suprapto, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (12/10).

Blood Donations Held Simultaneously at 330 RSUDs

Rano assessed that the donors' actions were a humanitarian act carried out with determination.

"Not everyone in this life is given the opportunity to be a savior and is given the courage to give something of themselves without asking for something in return, without expecting praise, without the spotlight of cameras and applause," he said.

Blood donation, added Rano, is a bridge of humanity that unites all groups, races, ethnicities, religions, and skin colors as human beings who need each other, support and strengthen each other.

"This also proves that Jakarta, as a city full of dynamics, still has a warm and lively pulse of solidarity," he added.

He explained that Jakarta's daily blood demand exceeds 1,200 units. This blood is used not only by Jakarta residents but also by those in need in surrounding areas, such as children with thalassemia, women giving birth, surgical patients, and even cancer patients.

Meanwhile, Head of PMI Jakarta, Beky Mardani, stated that his side will also give appreciation and awards to 200 people who have donated blood up to 50 times, in the form of certificates and precious metals weighing 0.5 grams.

"Hopefully this will be a motivation to continue sharing and make blood donation a lifestyle," he stated.
